Dish type Stirling solar thermal power generation technology

Dish type Sterling solar thermal power generation system is mainly composed of Sterling engine, receiver, condenser, control system, etc. When it is running, the dish type Sterling solar thermal power generation system uses dish type parabolic condenser to collect the energy of the sun, reflects it to the focus of the condenser to obtain concentrated heat of high temperature and high heat flux, and drives the solar Stirling engine placed near the focus of the condenser so as to drive the generator to generate electricity. Usually, the concentration ratio of the condenser system can reach over 2000. The working temperature of the heater surface maintains 600 ℃-750 ℃. The peak light electricity conversion efficiency of the system can reach more than 25%. As a new type of power generation technology, dish type Stirling solar thermal power generation technology has some advantages including high efficiency, occupying less land, suitable for modular combination and less industrial chain pollution, is internationally recognized as a clean energy, and has broad prospects for development and huge market potential.


SMDERI (MicroPowers Ltd.) has more than 40 years of experience in the research and development of Stirling engines, as well as produces and sells mature products in the military and civilian areas. In China, its design and production capacity of Stirling engine is at the forefront. Vigorously developing dish type solar energy thermal power generation system matches with the technical features of SMDERI。

III. Main application occasions:

It can be installed in the area with rich solar light resources to build the power plant of 100 MW level or above. As the 100 kW level distributed energy system, it can be used by the border posts, islands and cities. If it is combined with solar energy low cost hydrogen production and hydrogen storage technology, it can use the characteristics of the Sterling engine itself to achieve 24-hour power generation.


IV. Current status:

The development of the principle prototype, initial prototype and formal prototype has been completed. 2,000 hours testing has been completed. Integrated dish type engine power generation has been achieved.


V. Main components:

25kW Stirling generator unit, 12m condenser and tracking system, power generation module control system and auxiliary system, etc. It belongs to transmission machinery processing product. The engine and condenser are mainly made of structural steel.


VI. Demonstration base:

ZhangJiang Hi-Tech Park is located in south-central part of Pudong New District, Shanghai. Since its inception in 1992, it has been called by the international counterparts as “The Silicon and Medicine Valley in China” and thus enjoys worldwide fame. Shanghai MicroPowers Ltd. is located in the Park, adheres to the concept of scientific and technological innovation, and is always committed to use advanced applicable technology to help users save energy and protect environment. Currently, the 25kW dish type Sterling solar thermal power generation system developed by the Company enters the stage of demonstration project construction. The relevant construction work is being carried out in an orderly manner. The whole construction work is expected to be completed by the end of this month. This project is a key program funded by Shanghai Science Commission (project No.: 11dz1202700). All the 25kW Sterling engines used in the project are independently developed by Shanghai MicroPowers Ltd. Upon completion, the Company will, relying on this demonstration base, build the platform for future testing, research and development, promotion and expansion.
